LinkedIn is the biggest social media platform for professionals. With the right approach, it can  become a powerful sales and lead-generation tool. And by integrating LinkedIn with Zapier, you can automate a big part of your lead gen process.

In this article, we’ll dive deep into the Zapier LinkedIn integration. We’ll look at the different LinkedIn apps available in Zapier, their triggers and actions.

Lastly, you’ll see some of the most effective workflows you can build with the use of Zapier, LinkedIn, and various third-party apps.

But first, let’s take a very quick look at why you’d want to integrate the two.

Why Integrate Zapier and LinkedIn?

If you’re offering any kind of B2B services, a LinkedIn presence is not a choice. Your competitors are already there – and they’re doing the right thing.

It’s the #1 platform for generating B2B leads and getting new business. If you’ve never used LinkedIn before, here’s a quick intro video with a couple of tips on how to use it for marketing:

Now, getting back to a LinkedIn Zapier integration, here’s how it can help you grow your business:

  • It Keeps Your Message Consistent Between Different Social Platforms

First, connecting LinkedIn to Zapier allows you to share select social media posts on various platforms. For example, you can build a Zap that shares Facebook posts right to your LinkedIn feed.

What’s important is that doing this doesn’t just save you time. Such automation keeps your message consistent between different social media platforms.

This, in turn, helps your audience stay engaged and ensures they won’t miss your key updates.

  • Automate Key Parts of Your Lead Generation Process

LinkedIn Ads is an amazing lead generation tool. In a few clicks, you can create ads targeting B2B professionals in your desired niche.

And the best is, once they see your ad, they don’t even have to fill in any forms to share their data. LinkedIn will do all the heavy lifting for them.

All they have to do is click the CTA button and you get a new lead.

And with a Zapier LinkedIn ads integration, you can then move those leads to any tool you need. Whether it’s a database, a marketing automation system, or a sales management platform.

Not only that – Zapier can then move processed leads further down the funnel – all that fully automatically.

  • Create More Effective LinkedIn Ads Campaigns

LinkedIn Ads Zapier integration lets you update your audience with new leads collected elsewhere.

For example, you can add new email subscribers to a LinkedIn audience that matches their position in the sales funnel.

You can also use the integration to do the opposite, and remove leads from an audience once they outgrew it.

This helps you create more targeted ad campaigns and saves you plenty of money on targeting the wrong leads.

  • Save Massive Amounts of Time and Money

Lastly, just like any automation, connecting your LinkedIn with Zapier saves you a massive amount of time.

And the less manual work you have to do, the more time you can spend on processing those leads.

The same applies to money. The less manual work your team has to do, the more they can focus on what they specialize in.

This, in turn, helps you create better processes, improve your marketing, and boost sales.

All that leads to better ROI, which you can reinvest back into your business.

Of course, there are many more benefits that we could list. Often, those benefits are related to the individual workflows that you create.

But, before we get to them, let’s first look at the available Zap triggers and actions.

Zapier LinkedIn Triggers

Unlike most apps, LinkedIn offers you three different integrations. These include:

  • LinkedIn. This is its “standard” integration with Zapier. Use it to connect your personal or company profile to Zapier.
  • LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms. This is one of two integrations related to LinkedIn ads.
  • LinkedIn Matched Audiences. This integration lets you create audiences from uploaded lead lists.

Even though there are three different LinkedIn Zapier applications, you can use only one to trigger a Zap:

And, as you can see, there are only two Zapier LinkedIn triggers available:

LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms Zapier events
  • New Event Registration Form Response. This triggers a Zap whenever someone signs up for the event that you promote.
  • New Lead Gen Form Response. This triggers a Zap when someone submits a form in your Lead Gen Ad.

As you can see, you can use LinkedIn to trigger a Zap only when you get a new lead. The good news is that automation can cover all kinds of leads, whether they come from an event or an opt-in form.

Now, let’s jump one step further and look at available actions.

Zapier LinkedIn Actions

If you want to use LinkedIn further down your Zapier workflow, the number of choices increases. Still, you can only choose from just a few Zapier LinkedIn actions in each app. Let’s look at what each app has to offer.

  • LinkedIn Zapier App
Available LinkedIn action events in Zapier

In the “classic” app, you can choose between two different actions – one for your personal and company profile:

  • You can create a company update on your LinkedIn company page.
  • You can share an update on your personal LinkedIn page.

Technically, those steps are identical to what you can get with a tool like Buffer. The advantage of Zapier is that you can easily make this step a part of your Zapier workflow.

Plus, you get complete control over the content that you share and don’t have to pay extra for another app.

  • LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms

In this integration, you can also choose between two different events:

  • You can add an email to your Lead Gen Forms audience
  • You can create a new Lead Gen Forms audience to which you can then start adding email addresses.

These steps are a perfect addition to your lead generation efforts if you collect, tag, and segment emails in a third-party tool.

  • LinkedIn Matched Audiences

In the last integration, you can choose between three different steps:

  • You can create an audience from an uploaded list of email addresses.
  • You can add more emails to an email-based audience
  • You can remove an email from an email-based audience

These actions are crucial in automating data management for LinkedIn matched audiences. They let you automatically update data that LinkedIn is using to improve your ad targeting.

Of course, the success of your workflows will depend heavily on the tools that you use and your strategy.

Here are a couple of practical ideas on how to use Zapier with LinkedIn to improve your marketing and lead generation.

Boost Your Lead Generation with Zapier and LinkedIn

We’ve already mentioned that Zapier can give your Linkedin lead generation a huge boost. Now, let’s look at three different Zap ideas that can make that a reality.

Send LinkedIn Leads to PipeDrive and Email (And Ping Your Team)

Pipedrive is a robust, highly popular sales relationship management tool. In this Zap, we’re going to use the Pipedrive Zapier integration to move LinkedIn leads to Pipedrive and then inform the team about an incoming lead.

Note that we also introduced an ActiveCampaign step, to add the new lead to an email marketing campaign.

A LinkedIn to PipeDrive, ActiveCampaign, and Slack Zapier Workflow

But before you build the above Zap, think if you want to move your leads to the so-called Single Source of Truth. In some cases, Pipedrive can serve as your main CRM.

However, if you’re using many tools in your sales workflow, it’s best to have an intermediary tool. One that you’ll move new leads to before they enter their final destination.

In this case, you’d want three workflows:

While the above may seem complicated, it makes things a lot easier. It leaves you with just one multi-step Zap, making it clear which Zap you have to edit when you expand your workflow.

Then, you only need two super-short Zaps for your LinkedIn lead gen and event form responses.

Add or Remove Emails from LinkedIn Ad Audiences

In this LinkedIn Zap, we’re going to play with LinkedIn matched audiences. Imagine that you have a list of subscribers in your ActiveCampaign account (if you do – that’s even better!).

Now, think about a subscriber who moves further down the sales funnel. For example, they signed up for a webinar and watched it, but didn’t become a customer.

Whether they got tagged or changed segments, they’re now a better fit for another LinkedIn audience.

With Zapier, you can automatically remove them from one audience and add them to another one.

A LinkedIn Zap triggered by an email tag

Note that this step could be triggered by many tools, including sales tools and a CRM. That’s why it’s a good idea to change the lead status in your single source of truth first.

Then, simply create one more Zap for moving the lead between your LinkedIn matched audiences.

Text Your New Leads with Twilio

Lastly, we’re going to build a very short Zap that sends a text message to the new lead. It can be anything, from a confirmation to a thank-you message.

In the simplest form, the Zap is just a two-step workflow:

A two-step Zapier workflow between LinkedIn Lead Gen Form and Twilio SMS

Note that you can text your LinkedIn leads further down the funnel too. This will depend on your marketing funnel strategy and what it is that they signed up for.

For example, a text message serves as an excellent reminder about a workshop or webinar. And it can be automated with Zapier too!

Zapier LinkedIn Workflows to Boost Your Brand Awareness

Now, let’s look at three quick Zaps that you can use to help you automate brand management work. Let’s start with one to automate website content publishing to your LinkedIn.

Add New WordPress Posts to LinkedIn

Content is king – so it’s worth sharing it with the world. With Zapier, you can automatically share any post to your personal or company profile.

And, with the right filter, you can prevent the Zap from running for unwanted categories or post types. For example, let’s say that you’re writing posts about both Zapier and LinkedIn but only want to share the latter type of content.

First, here’s what such a Zap would look like:

A sample LinkedIn Zap triggered by a Webhook

As you can see, we send post data to Zapier using a Webhook (we use WP Webhooks to send post data). Here’s what such a filter would look like inside a Zap:

A filter targeting WordPress category

Because the post tested was not in the LinkedIn category, the Zap would not continue.

Another thing that could come in handy here is a time delay. With a bit of tweaking, it’s possible to set the Zap to publish all your posts at the same time of day.

Promote Webinars to Your LinkedIn Audience

Next, you can use the LinkedIn Zapier integration to let your audience know about an upcoming webinar.

In its simplest form, the Zap can be made just of two short steps:

A two-step Zap to promote AnyMeeting webinars on LinkedIn

However, what’s important is what you do in step #2.

LinkedIn allows you to customize the post that you publish. This means you can use step two to enhance your Webinar update with:

  • An eye-catching image promoting the webinar
  • An enticing comment, encouraging people to sign up
  • A strong call to action
  • A URL to the webinar page

Note that you don’t have to restrict this Zap to being a two-step Zap either. You can create more LinkedIn steps with Zapier delays in between.

This would allow you to create a complete set of automated webinar updates for a recurring webinar.

Note that you can also use LinkedIn and Zapier to do the opposite, and add LinkedIn leads to your event.

Share Your Tweets to LinkedIn on the Go

Next, let’s take a very quick look at an automation flow that can save you a ton of time on publishing content to multiple social networks.

Let’s say that you’re on your phone and want to post a quick update to your Twitter followers.

But, the Tweet is so good that you also want your LinkedIn followers to see it.

The thing is, you don’t want to write the same thing twice. Or even three times, if it could also be a company update.

To help you out, you can create a Zap that will automatically post your updates to LinkedIn:

A Twitter-triggered Zap that shares select updates to personal and company profiles

First, Zapier will check Twitter for a new tweet. Then, if it passes the filter (for example, has the right hashtag), it will share it to your personal profile. After that, it will verify if the tweet can also go to your company profile.

Note that these two filters could be put into paths. That way, you could set filters to put the tweet just in your personal profile, the company profile, or both.
